Skewered Apple BBQ Championship
September 11 & 12, 2010
If $35,000 in prize money isn’t enough to entice you to this sanctioned northwest championship, perhaps great wine, nearby mountains and big harvest bounty will!

Enjoy an incredible weekend in Washington’s Wine and Apple Country. More than 75 wineries await you in the Yakima Valley with many tasting rooms just a few steps from the BBQ competition.

If that’s not enough, you’ll certainly enjoy sightseeing among the rolling hills, orchards and vineyards while basking in the sun and warmth of a typical fall day in Central Washington.

Yakima’s backdrop is scenic, with both Mt. Rainer and Mt. Adams visible from most locations. These two majestic mountains are only an hour or two away, as is world-famous Mt. St. Helens.

As part of the event, we’ve secured some great musical talent from around the Northwest so guests can enjoy live music all weekend long.

Best of all, proceeds from this event will support the Yakima Valley Museum, our local nationally-accredited history museum.

Yakima Valley MuseumThe Yakima Valley Museum, located in Franklin Park, offers historical exhibits on the Yakima Valley, from a petrified forest to a Neon Garden, and showcases superb collections of horse-drawn vehicles and Native American artifacts. Within the museum is the Children’s Underground, an interactive learning center offering activities and programs for children ages 5 to 15. The Museum Soda Fountain, a functioning replica of a late 1930s Art Deco soda fountain, serves ice cream specialties and lunch. The museum also operates the nearby H. M. Gilbert Homeplace, an authentic late Victorian farmhouse.
